No Longer Silent Action Feb. 19th in Phoenix

February 15, 2011

Exodus International, a group which adheres to the discredited claim that reparative therapy can “cure” homosexuality, is holding an all day conference in Phoenix to encourage individuals and families dealing with homosexuality to seek a path of denial and repression. Even though their flawed ideals have been disproven medically and psychologically, Exodus continues to promulgate erroneous information.

The clergy and lay supporters of No Longer Silent: Clergy for Justice believe it is the mandate of the Gospel of Jesus Christ to witness against the kind of hate promoted at this conference.

Gather with us at 8:30am for prayer followed by a vigil as people enter the conference and throughout the day. We will stand as a testimony that God’s love excludes no one and that hateful religion has no place in the Valley of the Sun.

Join us Feb. 19th as we proclaim God’s love and promote the dignity and beauty of all God’s children. Head to our Facebook Event Page to let us know you’re attending.

WHEN:            Saturday, February 19, 2011 8:30am – 5:00pm

WHERE: Church for the Nations  6225 N. Central Ave., Phoenix, AZ

WHY: To  send a clear and strong message that hate will be met with the relentless challenge of radically inclusive love. The people of Arizona know all too well the results of misspoken statements that can and do lead to violence. When some Christian leaders assert that Gay, Lesbian, Bi-sexual or Transgender people are not accepted by God, they leave the door open for people to do violence under the guise of doing God’s will. We cannot allow that to continue.

Manhattan Declaration Rally – 10/16/10

September 29, 2010

The Manhattan Declaration declares war on LGBT and Women’s rights

Join us as we stand up to “The Manhattan Declaration Comes to the Desert”

WHAT: A Rally to Oppose the Manhattan Declaration
WHEN: Saturday, 16 October 2010, 8:15a.m.
WHERE: St. Mary’s Basilica, 231 N. 3rd St., Phoenix, AZ 85004
WHY: If you do not stand against hateful speech and rhetoric it is the same as condoning it. Our children, all children, deserve better!

Roman Catholic Bishop Olmsted has slated October 15th as a Clergy Day of Legislative Training with the crafters and supporters of The Manhattan Declaration, and October 16th as a day to recruit the laity of the Diocese into action on the three principle elements of the MD: Suppression of LGBT rights, suppression of Women’s rights, and encouraging people to disobey laws about equality.

Here is your chance to say that such spiritually violent and hateful rhetoric does not belong in our Desert!

Join us as we rally at 8:15 with local and national speakers, hear from Catholics and others affected by the MD, and then remain as a witness to those transitioning from Mass to this conference with such a harmful political agenda.

A sign making party will be held on Friday, 15 Oct 2010, 6:00-9:00pm, Church of the Beatitudes, 555 W. Glendale Ave., Phoenix, AZ 85021.

You can visit us on Facebook for more information, and here’s a half-sheet church bulletin insert (or flyer) for printing and distribution.
Together, we can be No Longer Silent!
